Another VLLC Committee meeting is scheduled Thursday, November 8th at the ProLiteracy Conference in Northern Virginia at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center. We will announce the exact location as soon as we receive the workshop schedules for the day, and hope you will be able to make it. This will be the fifth VLLC meeting for 2007 (see below), quite an achievement for a group that had met only twice the year before.

After reading the minutes of the Williamsburg meeting, I am curious as to how many CBLO's expect to apply for VADOE funding next year. For instance, I think we will have real trouble meeting the 60 hour ESOL instruction requirement (40 was challenging enough), and we are finding the new form extremely daunting for most of our new students (in fact, several have just walked out).
Please post your thoughts. I have a feeling that the DOE is listening, and that if enough CBLO's are finding the requirements too much, there might be some wiggle room.
